Why a JR EasyTraveller? Designed to be different. Over the past 30 years renowned horseman John Chatterton, who specialises in solving problems with horses, has lost count of the number of times owners have called him to help with a floating problem. Common problems are kicking (actually scrambling) , pawing, leaning, falling over and tail rubbing. People believed that their horses were misbehaving, not realising they were fighting for balance. John studied the problem in great detail and discovered the horse wasn’t the problem, it was the float!!! Nearly all straight walled floats studied had scrape marks up the walls. When the float travels around a corner, the horse needs to step their legs out for balance. However the straight wall prevents this. If a horse can’t spread his legs past his body when travelling, he will try to steady himself by locking his knees and hocks. This places a great deal of strain on ligaments, tendons and muscles, resulting in leg injuries and sometimes panic. Horse owners were travelling their horses with the partition over to the side, and noticed their horses were standing on an angle. People believed travelling on an angle was the answer, not necessarily so. It was not the angle that made the horse travel better – it was giving the horse more leg room. If you were standing on a boat or bus you would naturally widen your stance for better balance. John believes horses will travel better forwards if given more leg room and their body supported on all 4 sides with an adjustable rump and chest bar and sloping side walls. Transporting horses straightforward seems logical as galloping horses will naturally stop straight. John also discovered whilst studying the angle load float, that although there was a great improvement in the horses ability to spread their legs, little thought was given to the rest of the horse. There is no chest or rump bar for support, putting tremendous strain on the legs. There is no room for their head and neck, especially for a big horse who often bump their head on the wall and having to stand with their neck bent. Sometime you try travelling with your head turned, even on a slight angle and you will end up with a very sore neck. It was also noted that when the horses were pushing back, trying to support their rump, they were bending their spine due to the angle of the wall, creating another stressful and potentially painful situation. Experienced horse owners would be well aware that when a horse is relaxed he allows his head to drop. Most angle load floats do not have the room for larger horses to achieve this natural stance. JR Floats are designed to be different. These quality horse floats are not just for problem travellers. Their unique patented safety features enable any performance horse in any "equestrian discipline" to travel safely and stress free to any event, where they will be ready to perform as well as if they were still at home, even the good travellers. Another advantage of these JR. Uniquely different patented safety features is that they will contribute to preventing young horses from becoming scramblers!!!!
